Perperikon is an ancient Bulgarian city carved in the rocks and this old Christian church is part of this city and is the oldest Early Christian church found in the Balkans. It was dated by a IVc coin found in the masonry and dates to the IV Century AD.
These weird stone shapes were taken at the natural phenomenon called The Stone Wedding. The myth attached to these strange stones are that on her wedding day, the bridge didn't wish to marry her future husband so she cried and as her tears flowed, all those present were turned into stone.
